5 Lessons Hurricane Irma Taught Me about My Qigong & Tai Chi Practice

Published on September 21, 2017 by Sifu Anthony Korahais

I’ve had a lot of spiritual teachers in my life, but Hurricane Irma was one of the best.

She taught me some powerful lessons about my own qigong and tai chi practice.

My wife and I had quite the adventure before, during, and after the storm.

I posted about our adventure on Facebook. Click here to see pictures and videos of our adventure with Hurricane Irma.

This video was originally shot live on Facebook, but I edited for your convenience.

Here are the 5 lessons covered in the video:

01:25 – Lesson #1: We all need an emergency fund for qi.

06:08 – Lesson #2: Tai chi is the most practical martial art in the world.

08:18 – Lesson #3: Square Breathing saves the day

12:05 – Lesson #4: Meditating on death can save your life

14:49 – Lesson #5: Gratitude is the only thing that matters

I’m Anthony Korahais, and I used qigong (pronounced "chee gung") to heal from clinical depression, low back pain, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. Today, I'm the director of Flowing Zen, an international organization with students in 48 counties. I've been teaching qigong since 2005, I've served on the board for the National Qigong Association, and I’ve helped thousands of people to use qigong for their own stubborn health challenges. If you're ready to get started with qigong, there's no better way than my best selling book, which comes with free videos and meditations. The sooner you read my book, the sooner you can start healing! Click here to see my book on Amazon.

Thank you for sharing and advise. My request would be: could you elaborate some other time more on qi gathering. You pointed toward it in number one. I am curious about the specifics.

      Thanks Gina.

Gathering the Qi is a big subject. I probably need to blog more about it, but words will still fall short. I teach this subtle skill in my Qigong 101 program, and of course in my live workshops.

Beautiful clarifying description of an event my wife and I experienced in Sebring from the 7th floor of a 12 story condo. Clarifying because you let me understand how and why I breezed through the prep – the storm – the clean up but felt drained after Maria turned NE. Until this blog I didn’t realize how two years of your training has prepared me for “life’s battles”. I will definitely re-build my qi. Thank you!
