In reply to <a href="https://flowingzen.com/tips-for-practicing-qigong-in-a-chair/#comment-71801">Lisa</a>.

Hi, Lisa. At 83, I want to salute your intention to share this lesson with the oldsters in your family! I believe that qigong can keep us trucking for a lot longer than we otherwise would. At the same time, I hope - and anticipate - that many of your seniors will improve in mind, body and spirit to the point where they say, "Heck, I can stand to do this!"

Actually, my not-so-old body finds it easier to stand, most of the time! I am grateful, though, that I now have this video to share with more challenged folks, even if younger than I (which describes the majority of the population, of course).

Dear Sifu.

Any tips for people who are in pain due to a health condition and find it difficult to relax the body?

Due to electro sensitivity, I am often in pain and have stiff muscles despite my efforts to relax. Or if I manage to relax, my muscles become tense as I practise. My Qigong practice feels increasingly frustrated and as if it is going backwards as a consequence. This wasn't a problem previously.

Environment is very important for my health. I am looking to move.

Actually, while writing this, it's occurred to me I can practise Reiki on myself immediately prior to Qigong. Both arts alleviate the symptoms, giving me temporary relief and defence. Reiki helps me relax so it makes sense to practise Qigong afterwards.

I'll try it. And I'll also experiment with Qigong sitting down.
Thanks for answering my question!

I've accustomed myself to use a chair as my balance is still affected after a bout of shingles nearly 2 years ago. I did try standing for my first few sessions but found I became disoriented and too wobbly. In fact I nearly fell over. I tried the exercises with my eyes open but the effects were not as good as having them closed.
I was fortunate to obtain a Bambach saddle chair for free and it's great for seated qigong and meditation. I've set the height so my knees are below my hips due to a tightness in left ITB and I obtain a wonderful peaceful serenity during and after each session.
Thanks again to Sifu Anthony for the wonderful bundle of qigong techniques.

Thank you Sifu, Every information to help us growing is more then welcome. If you still searching tips for teaching us would you teach acupressure points? and what I am looking to complement your Qigong system his a walking stick forms qigong, and as a self defense. I am 68 years old this would help as I ages. Thank you very much Sifu. Namaste
