Yes, it was via email when he used to post the exchanges on his website. Lots of his answers on those threads reflected his personal and cultural opinions. The first time I ever saw your image was on his website. This would have been about 1997 or so. Qigong had just appeared on my radar screen and I had studied Hua Gong in England and meditation here in the USA. Anyway, there were on a few Qigong teachers like him and Dr Yang Jwing Ming that had a strong web presence back then

In any case, you bumped into a cultural issue, not a qigong issue. I saw this countless times during my discipleship. His answer wasn’t about qigong and piercings; it was about his biased opinion about piercings.

I asked Master Wong 20 years ago whether piercings negatively affect the flow of qi and he said “I don’t know but discourage such piercings.” That’s pretty funny. I wear a wedding band and if anything, I think it improves the flow of qi because of the love and commitment it represents. This could hold for any adornment. The amount of healing and deep peace and compassion that one can generate doing Qigong and meditation is like a tidal wave or a sunrise compared to the tiny little blip of the good or bad effect of something like wearing jewelry.

The qi still flows through those areas even if the replacement areas feel empty. How do we know? If you can move your toes, then the qi is still flowing!

I think about Wifi and 4G a lot. The problem is that it’s hard for me to experiment because I’m pretty much always bombarded by these signals. The only place I get a break is at our retreat center in Costa Rica. There’s no Wifi, and only a very weak cell signal.

Does my qi flow better there? Absolutely. Anyone who has been there will say the same.

But how much of that is the lack of Wifi/4G, and how much is the spring water, the organic food, the fresh air, the scenery, and the warmth of community?

I don’t know how to quantify any of this so I don’t really have a good answer.
