I really hope this doesn't go through. We need these traditions to be recognised on their own merits, as unique practices with their own history and teachings. As a Daoist Qigong practitioner, I can only say I'm appalled at the prospects of what something like this could bring. It opens doors to restriction and abuse of the practice. The last thing we need is for Qigong to be commercialised like yoga. It needs to be taught and regulated by people who honour and respect the traditions, and fully understand its essence as a meditation and internal medicine. I live in the UK so I don'y know that my statement will count for much, but I'll give it a try

Please read the bill again, Kayla. You are wrong. The bill clearly redefines qigong and other therapies like Reiki as forms of bodywork.

Guys! Read the bill! 🤦 This is only trying to distinguish the difference between body workers as massage therapists and qi gong practitioners are CLEARLY stated in the petition as not being body workers. This is literally just to enforce tighter reigns on those practicing massage therapy and other things that require a license to touch.
Please read thoroughly before freaking people out and making them vote against sometime that could be beneficial and needed.

Thank you for the opportunity to speak up on this. There are already enough barriers to learning martial/non-martial Eastern arts. And there is already too much regulation that makes living in this otherwise wonderful country onerous for the average citizen! The powers that be seem to be on a mission to strangle access to healthcare to only a very small pool of affluent or otherwise fortunate people.

We clearly need, besides our Bill of Rights' recognition of our inalienable right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, a new amendment delineating for those who don't seem to get it OUR INALIENABLE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF CHOICE IN HOW TO CARE FOR OUR OWN BODIES. I'm pretty sure George Washington and Thomas Jefferson wouldn't have thought it necessary, but in this day and age, we need to spell everything out for those who are FREEDOM CHALLENGED.

Qigong can also include a religious component (Taoism). Teachers who include this religious element would have their religious freedom infringed if they needed government permission to practice. There is also a free speech issue involved here. No one should need government permission to discuss ANY subject.
