I teach 3 qigong sets that utilize tension: Sinew Metamorphosis, The 18 Arhats, and One Finger Zen. 

These sets differ in how they use tension. Sinew Metamorphosis uses subtle, internal contractions that are almost invisible. The 18 Arhats utilizes forceful explosions of energy called fajin. And One Finger Zen utilizes both of these types of tension.

					<description><![CDATA[Recently discovered your articles and videos. What a breath of fresh air. As I approach my 70th year I look back on decades of playing different sports and dabbling with different training and exercise philosophies.  Regarding different forms of chi kung, I follow the (heated) viewpoints on relaxed muscles vs dynamic tension. Everything I have read so far  is either-or. I am still searching for an and-and approach, e.g. style that uses relaxed muscles whilst breathing in and dynamic tension when breathing out. When I was recovering from cancer healing was my focus and relaxed gentle exercise my approach. But when the focus switched to building up strength and endurance again, then tension was gradually introduced to half the exercise cycle. Is there a form of chi kung that recognises this approach? The combination of learning to relax and learning to tense at will makes perfect sense to me, appreciating how this can be mixed in different ways for different purposes varying from healing and stress reduction to building up strength and endurance and breaking the bottom brick ;-). So, is this integrated approch to chi kung already being taught somewhere?]]></description>

I practiced yoga disciplined for many years and it was the foundation of my personal spiritual path.
However, I recently took up Tai Chi/Qi Gong classes, and after about 2 months of practice, let me tell you this, is it purely coincidental or do I just have zest for life?

					<description><![CDATA[As someone who wants to get better at meditation yoga has done more for me than qigong has. Once I feel discomfort in sitting meditation I tend to not want to do it anymore. However, lately learning about Yin Yoga, them classes trained me to sit 5 to 10 minutes without choosing to give up. I love bagua kung fu and the qigong is my favorite, but yoga has been the food source that I&#039;ve been needing.  I totally agree that there are Pros and cons for yoga, but it&#039;s the same for qigong. I&#039;m no expert or professional at either but they are one in the same, chi is prana and prana is chi. At the end of the day yoga is not the asanas that yogis do but the meditation that the asanas guide the yogis to for the enlightenment. What I believe is that it doesn&#039;t matter if yoga isn&#039;t going to be as popular as it is now in 16 years. For me it&#039;s the destination that we all are trying to achieve with our practice. In stead of saying why qigong is going to be more popular in 16 years than yoga.  If you are unable to do yoga then try qigong. That would been perfect to explain why people who are disabled or injured can perform qigong instead of yoga. These hearts are for environment now for your own belief which is better Everyone likes their own thing,  everyone has their own poison that they fancy.]]></description>
