So true, definitely not enough recovery/rest time. I feel refreshed after Wuji and FBSW and a little more energized. I think I'll start doing more qi gathering than I used to since I've been though so much physically. Thank you Sifu.

Yes, qi will naturally replenish after birth. But modern society doesn't always encourage this. In the US, mothers barely get a few weeks off for childbirth. To replenish your qi, you need to rest. Qigong will also help, of course.

Wuji is good for most people, so it's a no-brainer for you post-partum. How do you feel after a session? Do you feel energized?

This was really informative, thank you. Question: Since qi is severely depleted after giving birth - does qi naturally return/increase on its own over time afterward? At five months postpartum, I am wondering if gathering qi via Wuji etc should be practiced more now simply because of going through birth?

Thank you Sifu Anthony for your very useful reply, it is most appreciated! I will, in turn, make more of an effort to learn about opening a Facebook account on my terms, so to speak,

Here are some excerpts from my comments in the discussion, Keith:

"In my school, practicing dynamic qigong exercises like Lifting The Sky is encouraged, even during an acute illness. With a high fever, 2 minutes is a good dosage. Without a fever, the session can be longer."

"I should clarify that this advice is for dynamic qigong exercises like the one presented in my free course, not for zhan zhuang or the Small Universe or anything advanced."

"If a 10 or 15 minute session is too much, do several 3 minute sessions to keep your lymph fluid and your qi flowing."

Thanks for the Facebook link Sifu Anthony but I was unable to "join" without opening an account and I'm not quite ready to do that again. When I did join some years ago I found that I was inundated with too many messages from every Dick, Tom and Harry on a daily basis and it annoyed me no end so I closed the account. I have since been told that one can change the settings but being an 'oldie' I have no idea - or the patience - as to how and, quite frankly, have no need to know what hundreds (or however many) 'friends' are doing every minute of their lives. However, I do acknowledge that FB has its up sides and I'm guessing that when I do your Class 101 I will have to join and I will have to make an effort to get some info about the settings at some point. Kind regards, Keith

Very enlightening, thank you Sifu Athony! It leads me to the question as to whether one should do Qigong when one has, say, the flu or generally feeling under the weather? I seem to recall reading that one should not.

Well,I wish I knew qigong 33 years ago when my daughter was born , but, I went swimming everyday in the sea of Carribean( lived in Curacao at the time:-)
I tend to think of qigong as a kind of swim through the air.... now I can hardly wait to learn the 5 anilmals play... :-)!
