Painless Acupuncture Center

My full name is Akemi Meeks Borjas Korahais, and I was born in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela. I was originally inspired to be a doctor because I realized that change must occur in an individual before it occurs in families, communities and the world. Once a person is freed from pain and suffering, whether physical or emotional, they can dedicate themselves to those around them to create a healing and supportive environment.

One of the biggest blessings in my life was meeting my loving stepfather, who brought us to Florida.   I also have an inspiring and loving husband, Anthony Korahais, and a very cute and grumpy miniature schnauzer named Sergeant Pepper. I’m an avid reader (mostly fiction), I love practicing Flowing Zen, and I’m passionate about food!

In 2006, I graduated from Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine (located right here in Gainesville).  I chose to devote my life to the healing arts because I have personally experienced the life-changing and life-saving aspects of this medicine. In 2004, at the age of 21, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  I remember feeling numbed by fear, but I also felt a deep pain at what I perceived to be my body’s betrayal.

I had surgery to remove the tumor, but refused the recommended chemotherapy.  Instead, I used acupuncture, herbal medicine, and Flowing Zen to help my body regain the ability to heal itself.  Today, I’m vibrantly healthy, and completely cancer free.  I am no longer suffering from severe physical or emotional pain. I continue to use Chinese Medicine and Flowing Zen to keep my immune system strong, and I am so proud and grateful to be a healthy example of what these arts can do.

I have devoted my life to these arts because my most exhilarating and satisfying moments come when I witness a person’s changing perspective. When I see a someone shift their core beliefs about themselves, their body, and the world around them. When my knowledge sparks hope.  When I see a renewed commitment to becoming the best person they can be. When patients realize the amazing potential of their bodies, minds, and spirits — once these elements are united in harmony.

I believe with all my heart in the principles of alternative healing. In traditional Chinese medical philosophy, illness occurs hen one or more natural systems are not functioning as designed. Through acupuncture and alternative medicine, we are able to restore the natural working of the body, and the individual experiences health as a result.

I believe with all my heart in how I practice medicine, and I always strive to improve it. I believe that I give an excellent service for a fair fee. I want to help people. I want you to refer and continue to refer patients to me because I am dedicated to each individual that walks through my door.  I know that  I am an excellent diagnostician, and I can get to the bottom of even the most difficult issues.

The purpose of the Painless Acupuncture Center is to bring awareness and wellness to our community. My personal promise to you is that I will always be honest with you about what needs to happen in order for you to achieve your goals. My highest goal is for you to experience wellness at every level, and for you to be free to enjoy your life and help make our community a better place.
